Jon Siegel, LPC
My name is Jon Siegel, a psychotherapist currently residing in Montrose, Colorado. Having grown up in Southern California, I attended San Diego State University where I earned my B.A. in Psychology (1993). Shortly after, my girlfriend & I relocated to Colorado & eventually chose the Western Slope.
Some of my past work experience includes serving individuals with intellectual disabilities, at-risk youth/adolescents in residential treatment centers, emergency response work & school based counseling (K12). Following various occupational endeavors & detours, I later obtained an M.A. in Community Counseling from Adams State College in Alamosa (2009).
I have a passion for learning about the human condition & in helping others to empower & improve upon themselves through the counseling process & increased self-awareness/introspection. My therapeutic orientation is focused primarily in Person-Centered Therapy & Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), often incorporating use of learned coping strategies & wellness approaches. Helping clients challenge negative, self-critical & distorted thinking patterns is one of my clinical interests. I work with most all age groups, primarily adults & adolescents. Treatment is often focused in helping others reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression & stress, at times processing emotions related to past trauma or abuse, grief/ loss concerns or improving anger management & emotional-regulation.
In my free time I enjoy the outdoors, snowboarding, mountain biking, hiking, (watching) football, hot tubbing & spending quality time with my family & friends. Looking forward in supporting you through the therapeutic process by helping improve your overall emotional wellness & quality of life.
