Jess Rapoza, Intern
Hello, I’m Jessica (Jess) and I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Behavioral Health with a concentration in children and adolescents, from Grand Canyon University in 2022 and I am a Certified Youth Mental Health Specialist. I currently pursuing my Master of Science in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in Clinical Counseling from Capella University, with the anticipation of becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I plan to have specializations in working with children, adolescents, military-affiliated individuals, and families. I have experience working with youth, adolescents, and adults with (and without) different abilities within mental health, educational, community, and non-profit settings.
I have been interested in helping others for as long as I can remember and have a strong interest and passion for advocating, supporting, providing information, and educating individuals about mental health and its’ importance. One of my goals when working with clients is to gain knowledge of who my clients are. I like to gain insight as to what makes them who they are, their personalities, family dynamics, strengths, challenges, social factors, personal interests, and other key factors that I implement into the care plan and counseling process. I aim to provide whole-person, integrative, and collaborative approaches with my clients.
I have lived in Colorado since 2022 but grew up in a small town in Massachusetts. I married my high school sweetheart in 2016 and currently reside in Mesa with him and my service dog, Petey Parker. When I am not working and attending my graduate program courses, I enjoy spending time outdoors, camping, photography, crafting, and spending quality time with friends and family.
